You'll Never Guess My Pick This Month! ~ When Life's Kicking Your Butt, How About a Theme Song? #4

Omigodit'sFebruaryhowdidthathappen??? This month the theme is Go Big Or Go Home!
This meme was created and hosted by Robyn from robgirlbooks

I started thinking about what I was going to choose, and it took me until today to figure out what I wanted to do. You know how sometimes you're trying to make a decision and nothing seems right in your gut? Then you get an idea, and wham! You just know this is it. You know it's super awesome because you're excited to share it. That's what happened to me this month. :D

What did you think? I heard them at ACL this past October but didn't get to see them. They played either right after the Cults or during. I wish I had 'cause I'm obsessed with them now!!

Here's my past picks:

"Good Vibrations"        Beach Boys
"Digital Witness"          St. Vincent
"I Wanna Get Better"   Bleachers
"All About That Bass"   Meghan Trainor

What song is big for you this month?

HEY! I Wanna Get Better! ~ When Life's Kicking Your Butt, How About a Theme Song? #3

So it's January, a new year, a fresh start, and it's time for a kick ass song to start things off right! This meme was created and hosted by Robyn from robgirlbooks

I'm picking two - it was a complete tossup between them, and they both get me pumped for different reasons. You'll see what I mean. ;)

I like dancing all crazy to this song much to my children's chagrin. They really can't say they don't have a fun mom, they just can't, right?

This song is like my anthem for this year - I really do just wanna get better. No more anxiety, no more depression. Sounds great, right??

The first time I heard this song, my husband and I were in my sister's car while she was driving, and we said, "What the hell is this? Is this music?" Eventually, because it's so catchy, it became stuck in my head. I watched the video, and I was hooked on the tune.

My husband and I are working out together and eating less and healthier, so I'm hoping to get down to a size 12 like Meghan Trainor reportedly is. I did it before, and I felt great! I think we can do it.

A lot of people think this song is skinny-shaming, but I don't think it is at all. If you pay attention to the lyrics, you'll see that she's talking about plastic surgery and the unhealthy images the media throws at us all the time. It's just a fun song, so those people need to calm their skinny asses down, lololol. ;D

What are/would be your choices?

When Life's Kicking Your Butt, How About a Theme Song? #2 #ACLFest

I'm feel pretty giddy this month because a couple of weeks ago, I got to go to Austin City Limits Music Fest again in Austin! This was my second year going, and it was so much fun as it was last year.

So I asked Robyn @ robgirlbooks if we could make the ACL Fest part of this month's theme song challenge, and she agreed! I also have a series of posts about my time there coming up on the blog, so keep an eye out for those! I swear this year I'm posting about it - I never did last year! :P

It was SO hard to pick just one song, but here's my selection:

When Life's Kicking Your Butt, How About a Theme Song? #1 ~ Summer

Robyn Jones from robgirlbooks has come up with an awesome monthly meme where she chooses a musical category and we pick songs that get us all pumped up!
The beautiful graphic designed by Jaclyn from JC's Book Haven

It's no secret I adore music from the 60's. My memories of summer include my parents listening to records or the radio. We rarely watched TV; instead, the house would be opened up with the radios tuned to the Oldies station - one radio in the house and the other in the garage.

One night in particular I remember lying in bed, ready to go to sleep, and I could hear the bass from "Spirit in the Sky" by Norman Greenbaum thumping my bedroom wall. I loved it.

Here's my choice for Summer!

"Good Vibrations" by the Beach Boys

Honorable Mentions:

"School's Out" by Alice Cooper

"Graduate" by Third Eye Blind

What do you think of my pick?
What would yours be?
