~ Synopsis ~

Hannah Sorrento never planned to be a band manager. She's a princess. The toughest obstacle she's had to face is finding shoes to match her outfit.

Then her father disappears and she's left with only the money in her purse and a contract for the management of hot, indie rock band, STORM. She plans to sell the management company, one way or another, then head back to law school with her designer wardrobe and wait for this whole mess to blow over.

But lead singer, Jack Colt, has other ideas and he's messing with Hannah's head. Not to mention her heart.

With the help of crazy rock chick, Angie, Hannah sets the band on their first steps to the big time and learns that poor people can have a lot of fun.

But this isn't some game she can escape from and soon her secrets get exposed.

He's arrogant and infuriating but he's the one that's there for Hannah when her world comes crashing down. With secrets of his own, will Jack Colt save Hannah or destroy her?

~ My Thoughts ~

My Rating: 3 / 5

I enjoyed Bad Boy Rock Star, especially Hannah's character. At first, I found her to be annoying and stuck up, but she ended up quickly growing on me. She's snarky and fun to read about with a spoiled rich girl attitude like the character Cher from Clueless. Clueless and endearing are actually two great ways to describe Hannah.

She basically ends up stuck managing the band, Storm, because she plans to sell the management company. She's never had a job, let alone one managing a band, and doesn't know the first thing to do. The lead singer, Jack Colt, and the drummer, "Spud," don't take her seriously; however, Eric, the bassist, is nice to her from the start and helps her along. She thinks she can sell the company, and then things will go back to normal for her not long afterwards.

I also liked the friendship that developed between Hannah and Angie - they both hate each other in the very beginning but soon become fast friends. They make a great team together and with both of their hard work, shape the band Storm into the next big thing. Angie sounded like someone I'd want to hang out with.

The chemistry between Hannah and Jack is palpable. I didn't want her to fall for him because I didn't want to see her hurt, but I knew it was inevitable. There was just too much physical attraction there - it was inevitable! There's so much more to both of these characters, and it was interesting to see the evolution of Hannah's character, turning from a naive and spoiled rich girl into a girl who cares about others and makes real friends based on personality rather than money.

I'm looking forward to the next book!! A lot is left unresolved, and I need to know what happens next!

~ About the Author: Candy J. Starr ~

Candy J. Starr used to be a band manager until she realised that the band she managed was so lacking in charisma that they actually sucked the charisma out of any room they played. "Screw you," she said, leaving them to wallow in obscurity - totally forgetting that they owed her big bucks for video equipment hire.

Candy has filmed and interviewed some big names in the rock business, and a lot of small ones. She's seen the dirty little secrets that go on in the back rooms of band venues. She's seen the ugly side of rock and the very pretty one.

But, of course, everything she writes is fiction.

  1. Great review this sounds like a fun read. And those romances where you know will end up blowing up are kind of fun to read and kind of masochistic >.<. Glad you liked it, Jennifer!

    1. Thanks, Giselle! I do think those romances are fun to read, too, lol. I appreciate it so much when you stop by - I know you're super busy! :D

  2. Yummy! I love rockstars and bad-boys, Jennifer. I think Bad Boy Rock is my kind of book. New Adult romances full of angst is also my cup of tea, so yeah.
    Happy reading :)

    1. I hope you enjoy reading this book, and when you get a chance to read it, I'd love to see what you think! I love rockstars, too. Quite a bit, lol. :D

  3. It's interesting to see that the author has had an actual inside look at the rock scene. What an interesting perspective!! Thanks for the chance to win the giveaway!

    1. I was thinking the same thing! I'd love to know who "sucked the charisma out of the room." And the behind-the-scenes ugliness and prettiness. That would be an interesting book, too! You're welcome, Nicole, thanks for stopping by! :D

  4. Awesome review, Jennifer! My review posts tomorrow - and I have to say we both felt pretty much the same way about BBRS. :) So what do you think Eric was gonna say to Hannah before he was shocked into silence and she and Jack were going away? Do you think he was going to tell her he was interested? And I wish I was brave enough to dye my hair green - love Angie! :)

    1. Thanks, Brandee! I'm checking yours out right now. :) I think he was going to tell her his feelings for sure. I can't believe the way it ended - without giving any spoilers away in case someone reads this comment who hasn't read the book yet, I wasn't expecting it to end there. If I wasn't so stuck on pink right now, I'd totes dye my hair green, lol. I do love her, too! I think you'd look fantastic with green hair! Go for it, girl! YOLO :D

Leave a comment and make my day awesome! :D This is an award-free zone - thanks for your consideration though!
