Q: Are there any book to movie adaptations where you think the movie is better than the book?
Automatically I want to say no. I really can't think of anything off the top of my head because usually so much of books are left out of movies for time constraints. I'm trying to wrack my brain, but I'm coming up with nothing, lol. Truly, I'm stumped. >.<
Are there any for you guys?
I have two giveaways going on right now!
Click here to enter to win ecopies of the first two books of the Valkyrie Series by T.G. Ayer!
Click here to win an ebook of Visions by Laura N. Anile!

Initially that's what I thought too! Then as I browse my walls and shelves for inspiration, I see my Jaws poster and big DUH! hits me! I loooved that movie and saw it like 1000 times as a kid, then as a teen I read the book and found myself not enjoying it as much as the movie!
ReplyDeleteThe Princess Bride was another one that came to my attention today too! And again, it was one I watched a 1000 times as a kid before deciding to read the book! Apparently these were two movies I watched over and over! So my mom is definitely burnt out on Jaws!
Here's my Follow Friday
Have a GREAT weekend!
Old Follower :)
I forgot JAWS! There are not many but I agree - that is one. Olf follower here (Donnie Darko Girl). My FF
DeleteThis is gonna surprise you I bet, but I had no idea Jaws was based on a book. That's crazy!! How did I not know that? I can totally see the book being not as great as the movie.
DeleteI'm ashamed to admit I haven't read The Princess Bride yet, but I have a copy. I love the movie of course. My husband had me watch it with him - it was one of his faves growing up and he was horrified when he found out I had never seen it. LoL, your poor mom! ;)
Greg - Are you surprised I didn't even know that was a book? LoL
DeleteI couldn't think of any I liked more. Managed to think of some where I loved the movie as much as the book - but that was usually for books that aren't my absolute favourites, in that case the book wins by a mile. New GFC, Twitter and Bloglovin follower. My F&FF.
ReplyDeleteI really couldn't either, and I thought about it for quite a while, too. Books are just so much better in my opinion. Thanks for following - I'm following back by GFC, Twitter, and Bloglovin! :D
DeleteThis was a hard one but I managed to think of two (one's a TV show). But that's because I couldn't get through the books, lol.
ReplyDeleteI agree with LOTR! Although I haven't read the books yet, I took a peek once and think I'm going to have a hard time making it through. I could be wrong, though, I don't know. The TV show one looks like something I'd enjoy watching! Thanks for stopping by, Jenna!
DeleteI loved the Harry Potter, Beautiful Creatures and the Lord of the Rings movies! They were pretty good! Although the Beautiful Creatures movie and book are really different I loved the lead actors who played Lena and Ethan. But I don't think movies will ever be really as good as the book! Books will forever win lol! I am a new Bloglovin' follower!
ReplyDeleteHere's my FF

I'm ashamed to admit I haven't read Beautiful Creatures or seen the movie yet. I think books will forever win, too! :D Thanks for following - following you back by Bloglovin'! :D
DeleteI'm following by GFC and email - I haven't found how to follow you by Bloglovin' yet, lol.
DeleteGot it! Gotcha on Bloglovin' lol
Deletelol, my first answer after I read the question was also "No" but I know the should be something, so I ended up with the classic... To Kill a Mockingbird. I'm still not a fan of classics though. Harry Potter movie was better... hmm... yeah. Hard question indeed. Happy FF! New GFC follower! My FF
ReplyDeleteTKaM is a hard one for me because it was actually a classic I had to read for school that I loved, but Gregory Peck nailed it as Atticus. I couldn't have imagined the character coming to life as well with anyone else in the role. :)
DeleteFollowed you with Bloglovin too. Sorry, I forgot the "Bloglovin".
ReplyDeleteThat's okay, lol, thanks for following both ways! Following you back! :D
DeleteI agree that books are better than movies. Movies always leave something out. Have a great week. Following you on Google+. My FF
ReplyDeleteBooks rock! They really put your imagination to good use. :) Thanks for following - following you back!
DeleteI couldn't get into Holes by Louis Sachar, but I love the movie so much. Lord of the Rings is amazing I'm sure, but I couldn't get into those books either, but I have the movies and they're some of my top favorites. Heidi is beloved by many, but the movie was just so awesome along with Black Beauty and The Little Princess. The Disney version of Beauty and the Beast is on the list too. Then I have a long list of movies where I never read the books like Horse Whisperer, Shawshank Redemption, Bridget Jones' Diary...I'm a total movie girl.
ReplyDeleteOh you could give your hubby a vote here and he could go with World War Z. Have a great weekend, Jennifer. Inspired by your sort of reunion with your best friends from high school, I'm going out with one of my old college friends. Much laughter will ensue. Can't wait.
I didn't know Holes was a movie - I'll have to check out the book and the movie. I haven't read it. The LoTR movies are so gorgeously done! I'm hoping since I've seen the movies first, they might help me out with reading the books. :) I used to read Heidi and Black Beauty over and over again as a kid but couldn't get into the movies. I have a long list of movies I've seen without reading the books, too.
DeleteI didn't even think of World War Z! You and I just talked about that the other day, too, lol. I hope you have a fabulous weekend with your friends. Can't wait to hear how much fun you guys will have! :D
Hi,
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by and following..:)
Followed you back..

Happy #FF!
You're welcome! Thanks for following me back. :)
DeleteAdaptations have gotten a lot better over the years, but having to condense so much into such a short time is always a disappointment. I wish they would make a Reader Version...even if it's six hours long :) Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteTraci @ Mad Hatter Reads
Yeah, I agree. A book lover is definitely needed to write the script - maybe if they had more of those, movie adaptations would be better, lol. :)
DeleteI think the Lord or the Rings movies were as good as the books. And I think that the Help movie was much better than the book. Thanks for stopping by and following. Now following via bloglovin. :)
ReplyDelete~Pam @ Moonlight Reader
I haven't read the books, but I absolutely love the movies. I have yet to read and watch The Help, but it's on my list to do both. Thanks for following! :D
