Valentine's Mini Book Blogger Challenge Day 5 ~ True Love to Me

Valentine’s Book Blogging Challenge

Five day romance fest hosted by Parajunkee

Most romantic books you've ever read

The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks

I cried my eyes out! I'm not a huge fan of Nicholas Sparks because I'm not a big fan of sappy stories. This is the only book by him I can stomach. I really loved it. Noah reading the notebook every morning to Allie though it may have seemed pointless to someone who doesn't understand. Gah! Gets me here *taps chest* every time.

On a serious note, it reminds me of the way my dad took care of my mom when she was very ill with brain cancer. The times he took her out to breakfast after dropping off me and my sister at school. The disciplinary notices he received at work because he had to take time off to take her to her doctor's appointments, radiation treatments, and then later, chemo. Setting up a hospital bed in our living room when she could no longer get in and out of their bed. The way he loved her though her hair had been shaved off for the brain surgery. He loved her through the cancer.

Though my dad, my sister, and I were reaching our emotional breaking point, our dad kept mom at home even after she slipped into a coma. Her wish was to die at home, and he made that happen for her. They were high school sweethearts, and he has never remarried even after almost twenty years since she died.

Everything that he did to take care of not only her but me and my sister as well...THAT is love. That's the most romantic kind of love I can think of.

What's your pick?

Valentine's Mini Book Blogger Challenge Day 4 ~ Love Triangles

Valentine’s Book Blogging Challenge

Five day romance fest hosted by Parajunkee

Love Triangles - The ones that worked for you. The ones that didn't.

This wasn't a hardcore love triangle, but the one between Katniss, Peeta, and Gale was one that worked for me. I wanted her with Gale badly, but I liked Peeta, too. Usually there's one side I'm definitively on, but this was not one of those times. It was a tossup for me. I was happy with her choice yet disappointed at the same time, which to me is the sign of a well done triangle - when you can't decide who to root for. That's a real triangle.

While I hated BREAKING DAWN, I did quite enjoy TWILIGHT, and it was another love triangle that was difficult for me to untangle. I loved Edward in TWILIGHT but hated him in NEW MOON. I was okay with Jacob in TWILIGHT and loved him in NEW MOON. Then ECLIPSE came along, and I was torn again. Ultimately, I went for Edward, and pretty much all of us know that's who Bella ends up choosing. ;D

Hmmm...one that didn't work for me. I don't have one I can think of in particular. It's actually kind of hard to think about anything right at this moment with my son asking me what he should nickname his Pokemon cards. (I'm writing this at 5pm, not 3am, lol).

It bothers me that SO many love triangles are between one girl and two guys. I'd love to see more between one guy and two girls, three girls, or three guys. I'm kind of over the girl and two guys triangle.

How about you? What do you like about love triangles and what do you get annoyed with?

Valentine's Mini Book Blogger Challenge Day 3 ~ CHEESIEST Romance Scenes or Topics You've Read in a Book

CHEESIEST Romance Scenes or Topics You've Read in a Book

This is a hard one for me. Usually when I come across a cheesy romance scene, I'm cringing so much I either skip it or skim through it. I'm not really a sappy romantic chick much to my husband's chagrin, lol. I'd say I'm more of a cynic - I don't like flowery promises of love forever because, well, it's lame. Not to mention unrealistic.

But I'm not a total hard ass. Sometimes romance scenes give me a warm fuzzy feeling. It just depends on my mood. If I had to pick, there were scenes in BREAKING DAWN that were hard to stomach. Bella and Edward were just too perfect at times, and I gagged. Man, I really did not like that book for a myriad of reasons!

So now that I've made myself sound like a total bitch, lol, what are your choices for the cheesiest romantic scenes or topics?

Valentine's Mini Book Blogger Challenge Day 2 ~ The HOTTEST Scene You've Ever Read in a Book

Valentine’s Book Blogging Challenge

Five day romance fest hosted by Parajunkee!

The hottest scene I've ever read would have to be from USED (Getting Inside of V #1) by Kate Lynne. While at a bar, V and a super hot waitress sneak off to have steamy sex. Soon after they're joined by the hot bartender V met when she first ordered a drink, and...well, you can imagine where it goes from there, lol.

Valentine's Mini Book Blogger Challenge Day 1 ~ My Book Boyfriends

My Book Boyfriend List!
All of Them!

This was difficult for me not to include Daryl Dixon, lol. I wanted to so badly, but he isn't a character in The Walking Dead graphic novels, so...yeah, it was really difficult!

Ryder from The Replacement by Rachael Wade
No matter how many times Elise tried to push him away, he wouldn't let her. His love for her was stronger than her self destruction, and that's why he's at the top of my list. <3
Lucas from Keep You from Harm (Remedy #1) by Debra Doxer
At first he was kind of a jerk but also dark, handsome and mysterious. I was drawn to him right away - couldn't help myself. I'm drawn to jerky guys in books. Many times I find out there's a reason for their jerkiness.

Lo from the Addicted Series by Krista Ritchie & Becca Ritchie
Lo may be a recovering alcoholic, which may not be the wisest choice for a sex addict to be with in a relationship, however he's taken the time to learn about Lily's addiction and how they can help each other rather than enable each other. He's such an awesome person and great in bed. I don't know the great in bed part personally. ;)

Breccan from the Getting Inside of V Series by Kate Lynne
This is a guy who has the kind of love and compassion for V that she doesn't have for herself, and his love is proving to be more powerful than her hatred for herself. He isn't going to give up on her, and I wouldn't want him to even dream of it.

Damian from the Vesik Series by Eric Asher
He's just SO damn sexy, and I don't really care he ends up being taken, lol. Most of these guys are taken anyway! ;) Plus he has a great sense of humor. Doesn't get better than that!

Adam from If I Stay by Gayle Forman
If Adam was here in real life, I'd be ALL over that! LOL! He's one of the most sincere guys of my book boyfriends. I love him to pieces.

Sam from the Sookie Stackhouse Series by Charlaine Harris
He's so sweet and cute! I loved him from the beginning, and I always wanted Sam and Sookie to get together though he's her boss. I can picture him being handsome and intelligent.

Eric from the Sookie Stackhouse Series by Charlaine Harris
He sounds like a sexy beast. I blushed during their sex scenes so many times! Love to go a round with him, lol. *Still blushing*

Girlfriend ~ Michonne from The Walking Dead graphic novels by Robert Kirkman
I rapidly developed a girl crush on Michonne. At first she's rather standoffish and never cracks a smile - I guess who would in the middle of a zombie apocalypse? She's so kick ass and with that katana, she can take out any zombie any time. She's kind of like the female version of Daryl Dixon with her fearlessness and zombie killing skill. Hottt

 Who are your book boyfriends/girlfriends?
