♥Donnie Darko Girl♥: wrap up post

Man, another month has passed us by. It's hard to believe we're already a month into the new year. I was just thinking how my New Year's Eve date to see Anchorman 2 feels like it was just yesterday. Wow!

I'm looking forward to February - one month closer to spring, woo hoo! Here's a couple photos for all my fellow Trekkies out there. :D

I love reading and discussing books. Kinda my thing. Want a book recommendation? Just ask! Besides books, I also love listening to music from the 60s/90s, dyeing my hair, trying out new makeup looks and getting tattoos.

I didn't get any of my special posts done from November - like my three day Austin City Limits epicness, but with my daughter's birthday and the holidays, I was lucky to get anything done! ;D I'll be working on getting those out this month.

I just set my new 2014 reading goal on Goodreads for 100 books. It's my fourth time making a goal there! Have you set your goal yet?

Monthly Wrap-Up #1 ~ November 2013

* Monthly Wrap Up #1 *

One of my favorite posts I see around the blogosphere are wrap up posts, both weekly and monthly, and I decided I'd like to start doing this at the end of the month also. Possibly weekly, too. I enjoy seeing the summary of everything from the month in one post in case I've missed anything and find them helpful in catching up with commenting.

For me, this will not only help promote my posts any of you guys may have missed but will also allow me to evaluate my blog's content - do I post too many blitzes? Do I have enough creative content? Do I post enough reviews? Should I look into doing other types of posts?

I'd also love your feedback, so feel free to post in the comment section anything you'd like to see less of, more of, or if it's a good amount.

I've posted a lot of blitzes, and I know many bloggers shy away from those but I'll tell you why I like them so much. Many times with blitzes, I get the opportunity to have a giveaway for the book for my post, and I like to give you guys the chance to win a copy.

I only choose blitzes for books I've either read or am going to read. The same with choosing cover reveals. When I sign up for a blitz or cover reveal, I know a blog tour for that book will be coming up so it reminds me to keep an eye out for that.

I *might* be posting too many blitzes, and if you guys think I am, please feel free to let me know and make any suggestions on posts you'd rather see. :D

I'm happy with the number of reviews I post. Every blog tour I participated in this month, I chose to review the book. For this month, I posted 14 book reviews for 12 blog tours (two of the blog tours I reviewed two books).

I know for most of the books I review I give them a 4 or 5 star rating, which might seem like a lot to some bloggers, but I've been really lucky in coming across books this year that I've absolutely loved.

Bout of Books 7.0 ~ My Wrap Up Post

I'm participating in my first read-a-thon, Bout of Books, organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal.

My Goal ~ Books to Read:

Finish The Garden by Paul T. Harry
In Darkness We Must Abide by Rhiannon Frater
Ink (Ink #1) by Holly Hood
Taking on the Dead (The Famished Trilogy #1) by Annie Walls
Of Silver and Beasts (Goddess Wars #1) by Trisha Wolfe
Delirium (Debt Collector #1) by Susan Kaye Quinn
Comes the Night (The Casters #1) by Norah Wilson & Heather Doherty

I forgot to post my Day 6 and 7 posts, lol. I had a really busy weekend and was gone for most of it. I thought I should at least have a wrap up post. :)

I read Delirium (Debt Collector #1) by Susan Kaye Quinn. Look for my review coming soon. I didn't count this one toward the read-a-thon, however, since I read it in its entirety before Bout of Books began.

I finished Comes the Night (The Casters Series #1) by Norah Wilson and Heather Doherty. I started this book before Bout of Books and finished it on the second day.

I read Ink (Ink #1) by Holly Hood and finished it on the fifth day.

I'm 70% finished with The Garden by Paul T. Harry and am also reading In Darkness We Must Abide by Rhiannon Frater.

Challenges: I participated in the Acrostic Poem Challenge hosted by Harley Bear Book Blog and now want to make one for every book I love, lol.
Twitter chats: I participated in a Bout of Books Twitter chat yesterday at 11:30am, talking about our progress with our goals. I could have kept going past time! :)

I didn't quite make my reading goals and wanted to visit more blogs than what I did, but I had a lot of fun and would do this again. Until next time! :D

Please click here to find the helpful template on the Bout of Books blog I used to keep track of my progress. :D
